Logistics controlled by voice

At Geis, we are constantly striving to improve our processes and find innovative solutions. This is why we are now implementing Pick-by-Voice technology in the Ostrava project as part of our broad portfolio of innovations. After the evaluation of the test phase, we expect to increase picking productivity in this project by up to 10%.

Innovative technologies at Geis

The entire Geis Group has extensive experience with technologies such as Pick-by-Voice, Pick-by-Light, Google Glass and many others. We flexibly implement them where they bring efficiency gains and improve work processes. So we decided to use Pick-by-Voice in a project for our long-standing client in the Ostrava region. We are convinced that it will bring significant benefits here as well. According to the first calculations, the productivity during the picking process should increase by 8 - 10%.

Ten devices will be deployed in the pilot phase of the project, but due to the versatility of Pick-by-Voice and its potential, it is likely that the number will increase in the future. The implementation of the technology is set up within the company so that it can be adapted and applied to different logistics projects.

Pick-by-Voice in the Ostrava project not only increases productivity and work efficiency through better use of human resources, but also improves worker safety and enables faster and more accurate handling of goods.

Advantages of Pick-By-Voice in operation

Pavel Křížek, Director of Logistics at Geis CZ, points out an important benefit of this technology: "Thanks to Pick-by-Voice, our operators can work without the need for scanners, which simplifies the process and reduces the possibility of errors. They have their hands free and can work more efficiently." Even training employees is easier and faster thanks to Pick-By-Voice.

How does Pick-by-Voice work?

Pick-by-Voice allows operators to communicate with the warehouse system via voice prompts. Workers are equipped with a headset with a microphone and speaker. The system uses them to navigate them around the warehouse and tell them what goods to pick and where they are located. The operator then confirms the instruction by voice. During the process, the product picking data is recorded in the warehouse system and the system manages the subsequent actions to make the entire process as efficient as possible. Of course, several languages are also available so that the work can be handled by workers from different countries.

Even the operators themselves praise the equipment. Logistics project manager Tomasz Wzientek confirms this, "I was pleasantly surprised by the positive reactions of the warehouse handlers who have seen the benefits first-hand and verified that it is indeed beneficial."

IT helps smooth operations

Pick-by-Voice in the Ostrava operation uses an API to communicate with the external system of the supplier of this new solution. Our IT specialists developed the data connection to this system and the process of transferring input information to it - warehouse operations, items, counts, etc. Thanks to this, the flow of data and information is smooth without unnecessary delays.
