Geis has long been helping to restore nature around Ejpovice near Pilsen, where its Czech headquarters are located. It supports the planting of new trees in the municipal forest, which has been affected by bark beetle and logging in the past.
Did you know that young trees grow up to ten times faster than mature trees in their first years of life? This means they can soon fill empty spaces in the landscape and contribute to nature's recovery. In addition, each new seedling serves not only as a future home for animals, but also as an important aid in the fight against climate change.
Landscape restoration in the Ejpovice area of the Pilsen region has been underway for many years. In the last two years, thanks to the support of Geis, almost 26,000 new seedlings have been planted. The species range from oaks and beeches to spruces, firs and pines.
Children from the local kindergarten and school are also involved in the planting events. Together with their teachers, they help to plant new trees, which is not only an interesting experience for them, but also a gentle form of education for the love of nature. And when the children visit these places in the future, they will be proud to have played a part in their creation.
"We are grateful for the significant financial assistance Geis is providing for the planting in the community forest. We appreciate the fact that this is not just a one-off event, but a repeated cooperation with our municipality for 8 years," says the mayor of Ejpovice Jaromír Kalčík.
