Geis continues to extensively modernise its fleet across the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) region to provide customers with even more efficient and flexible services with minimal environmental impact. This year, we will be expanding our own fleet with dozens of new vehicles and have put a new electric truck into live operation in the Hradec Kralove area. Investing in modern technology will also bring sustainability benefits.
Expansion of the cargo vehicle fleet in the Czech Republic
After last year's fleet modernisation, when we acquired new trucks and trailers in the Czech Republic, we are continuing to renew our fleet this year. Our own fleet will grow by sixty new cargo vehicles for last-mile delivery. Of these, 52 vehicles will have a capacity of 18 pallets and 8 will have a capacity of 20 pallets. The vehicles will be added to the fleet in two waves - spring and autumn. These upgrades will increase shipping capacity, allowing for faster response to client needs and greater flexibility in route planning and delivery. The in-house vehicles will also provide better control over the entire process and will help improve service quality and reliability. Last but not least, driver comfort will be improved.
New etruck deployed in Hradec Králové
At the beginning of the year, we deployed a new 100% electric truck into regular service in the Hradec Králové area. After successful testing, we decided to incorporate it into daily operation, thereby contributing to the reduction of local emissions.
In Slovakia, we are acquiring vehicles for our own fleet
In February, we acquired five cargo vehicles for our own fleet in Slovakia, with three more to be added by the end of the first quarter. All vehicles meet the strict EURO 6 environmental standards, are equipped with hydraulic platforms and can hold up to 18 pallets. The vehicles will primarily operate in the western part of Slovakia, particularly in the Bratislava and Nitra regions.
The acquisition of vehicles for our own fleet will allow us to respond more effectively to fluctuations and optimize delivery, which will increase flexibility and control over the quality of service. In the future, we also plan to expand our fleet in Slovakia with electric trucks.
Modernisation in Poland
In Poland, we will acquire eight cargo vehicles for our own fleet in the spring, which will primarily operate in the Bydgoszcz and Warsaw areas. Here we operate, among other things, dozens of Cityliner vehicles, which have proven to be an efficient solution for urban logistics due to their high capacity and flexibility. Cityliners are ideal for manoeuvring in dense urban traffic and fast delivery over short distances. We continuously renew the hundreds of cargo vehicles already deployed, including in cooperation with external carriers who regularly work for us.
